Legacy Society

The Legacy Society of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia honors individuals and families who have made planned gifts or endowment gifts of $100,000 or more.  The names of all Legacy Society members are inscribed on the beautiful Legacy Society walls, which are prominently located in the Atrium of the Jewish Community Services Building. Each Legacy Society member also receives a beautiful sculpture commemorating his or her membership in the Society.

You can become a member in many different ways, each offering financial and tax benefits. These include an outright gift, a bequest in a Will, an insurance policy, designation of a retirement asset or IRA, a life income plan such as a charitable remainder trust or a charitable gift annuity, or a permanent set aside of part of a donor-advised philanthropic fund , supporting foundation or private foundation.

Legacy Society gifts can be structured to benefit Federation and any other Federation partner agency, synagogue or other local, national or international Jewish organization. Federation will make distributions to all organizations that you have designated.

Levels of the Legacy Society are named after the historic gates of Jerusalem which are symbols of permanence and faith in the Jewish Community.

The levels are:

            • Lions’ Gate - $100,000 to $249,999

            • Jaffa Gate - $250,000 to $499,999

            • Zion Gate - $500,000 to $999,999

            • Golden Gate - $1 million or more
