Kehillah of Bux-Mont

BUX-MONT is a fast-growing suburban segment of the Jewish community of Greater Philadelphia. The region includes the northeastern part of Montgomery County as well as adjacent southwestern Bucks County, with major population centers in Blue Bell, Fort Washington, Plymouth Meeting, Ambler, Dresher, Jenkintown and Warminster.

The Jewish population
of Bux-Mont has more than doubled since 1983 to include more than 40,000 individuals in over 15,000 Jewish households. More than 50% of Jewish households in Bux-Mont are affiliated with one of the nine congregations in the region which represent Reform, Conservative,
Reconstructionist and Chabad Lubavitch movements.

Bux-Mont is predominantly family-based, yet there are significant numbers of single person households representing younger as well as older adults. Unique to the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia Bux-Mont region are the active partnerships with area synagogues through the Kehillah of Bux-Mont. The Kehillah of Bux-Mont is the collaborative of the 9 area synagogues, Federation and other Jewish agencies active in Bux-Mont.

The Jewish Federation supports outreach programs for young adults, families with young children and educational programs for all ages. The annual Community Fest, held in May, is a celebration of Jewish life in Bux-Mont.

The Kehillah of Bux-Mont is an inter-congregational coalition of the nine Bux-Mont synagogues, with representation by rabbis and community volunteers who work collaboratively to create an inspired Jewish community, providing opportunities for volunteering, Jewish study and community activities.

    Lag B'Omer Celebration

In spite of the 90 degree weather, more than 300 adults and children came to Burn Brae Day Camp for the Creative Arts in Dresher to celebrate Lag B 'Omer.  The program was sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia's Kehillah of Bux-Mont and the Kehillah of Old York Road, in partnership with Lubavitch of Montgomery County and Chabad of Abington.  The festivities included fanciful face-painting and balloon animals; a variety of field games; musical entertainment by Silly Joe; circus arts and movement under the guidance of Miss Lisa, Inc.; a magic show by Harrison Lampert; and, of course, lots of kosher food.
