Center for
Israel and Overseas

Support for Israel.  Jews at risk.  Victims of terror.

Federation’s Center for Israel and Overseas connects the Greater Philadelphia community with Jews in Israel and throughout the world. The center provides high-impact Israel advocacy, education and travel programs and supports key human aid and relief services for vulnerable Jews in Israel and elsewhere around the world.

Center Priorities:

• Investing in strategic community initiatives that support and promote Israel engagement
through formal, informal, social, cultural and educational programs.
• Coordinating efforts to create community-wide programs around historic events to
promote Israel and express community support for Israel.
• Leading Israel advocacy efforts in Greater Philadelphia by raising awareness about
Israeli history and current events.
• Building upon partnerships with other organizations to strengthen Israel-Diaspora relations.
• Implementing a comprehensive Israel travel plan that promotes short- and long-term
opportunities for Israel travel.
• Funding hunger relief initiatives in the Former Soviet Union and throughout the world.
• Helping vulnerable Jewish populations such as at-risk children and youth, seniors,
immigrants and trauma victims in Israel and around the world to meet their basic needs.

Center Impact:
Last year, the center provided more than $7.8 million to organizations and initiatives that the center determined – after an in-depth review process – would be best able to
support Israel and care for Jews around the world. Below is just a small portion of the important work that the center makes possible through its funding:
• Nutritious meals for Israeli children living in orphanages.
• Support for lone immigrant soldiers serving in the Israel Defense Forces.
• Medical care for elderly, impoverished Jews in the Former Soviet Union.
• Nutritious meals and medical aid to those in need in Ethiopia.
• Support for wounded soldiers mentoring other wounded soldiers in rehab.
