DELAWARE COUNTY, just west and south of metropolitan Philadelphia, is located midway between the City of Philadelphia and Wilmington, Delaware, at the center of the Greater Delaware Valley region. This is an area rich in history, geographical interest and style. This diversity, from contemporary sophistication to historic tranquility, is reflected in all aspects of our environment—our landscape, architecture, business and industry, shopping, entertainment and culture—and of course our Jewish life. Our five local synagogues (affiliates of Conservative, Reform, and Reconstructionist movements) and the congregations at Martins Run Life Care Community and Chabad/Lubavitch, are growing, and they offer a broad array of activities, services, and educational programs to support the spiritual and intellectual needs of their members as well as non-members. Today the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia, Delaware County Region is actively engaged in furthering and supporting the vibrant Jewish community life in Delaware County.

The Kehillah of Delaware County (Delco CHAI) is a collaboration of the congregations and Jewish agencies in the community. The Kehillah works on creating dynamic programs, educational experiences, events and service opportunities for the Jewish residents of Delaware County.

In addition, programs and services provided by Jewish agencies such as the Jewish Community High Schools of Gratz College, the Community Youth Initiative (CYI), Federation Early Learning Services, Jewish Family and Children’s Services, Jewish Employment and Vocational Services, Hillel of Greater Philadelphia, the Jewish Community Relations Council Department of Federation, VAAD Board of Rabbis, and many others, insure that needs are met and the quality of Jewish life is enriched in the community.
